A big thanks to Tim Ferrell and Burke Griffin for sharing some excellent Camp Insights with us in this newsletter.
Let’s dig in.
** RB AHMAN GREEN **
Now that Green is in Houston, he’s back with his old Head Coach Mike Sherman. Sherman is the Texan’s offensive coordinator. But don’t let that fool you. Texans Head Coach and long-time Broncos OC, Gary Kubiak still controls the offense. Kubiak studied under Mike Shanahan in Denver and Coach Shanahan even controlled player meals at training camp.
Either way, it’s good for Green.
Kubiak is focused on zone blocking and establishing a crushing ground game on offense. For his part, OC Sherman still remembers Green running at his best while both were in Green Bay.

** ROOKIE WR JAMES JONES in GREEN BAY **
WR James Jones is moving rapidly up FFL draft boards and for good reason. He has been one of the most productive WR's over the first two games of the preseason. He could easily supplant Greg Jennings for the #2 spot on the Packers. Jones clearly has the size, hands, and speed to be a solid NFL WR and productive fantasy football player. His numbers should only improve with Donald Driver's productivity.

** WAIVER WIRE GOLD in INDY **
Rookie NFL first-round pick Anthony Gonzalez may not be worth drafting in most non-keeper leagues this year however, he’s certainly someone to keep an eye on in the first few weeks of the season.
Colts OC Tom Moore is a huge fan of the Two-TE set. However, Moore also likes to go to a third slot receiver setup. Moore is likely the most undervalued assistant in the NFL and without Brandon Stokley (now in Denver), Anthony Gonzalez could quickly skyrocket onto everyone’s FF radar screen by week two. If you see good things with Gonzalez, don’t wait - get him off your wire.
Speaking of Indy, backup RB DeDe Dorsey remains in the drivers seat to land the #2 RB job behind Joseph Addai. However, Kenton Keith could steal the job away with a good showing over the next few weeks. Our friends in Canada can tell you about Keith. In four seasons with the CFL Roughriders, Keith never averaged fewer than 6.0 yards per carry.

** LJ WILL HELP **
Word from our source in KC - the offense has looked slow at practice and even worse in preseason game action. The offensive line is not working well together and the running game has been sluggish. Larry Johnson’s return will help. And so will two more weeks of O-line practice. If you were ever able to steal Johnson from a worrywart in your league, now is the time.

** EVERYTHING IS FINE IN CAROLINA **
RB DeShaun Foster has had a much better preseason than many expected. However don’t count DeAngelo Williams (ankle) out. Word is the Panther’s new OC wants to fully leverage Williams as a receiver and use his juke-moves inside the tackle box. While Williams doesn’t have breakaway speed, he does have plenty of moves and all-around skills - think Brian Westbrook and Reggie Bush, but with less raw speed. Even if Foster continues to impress, Williams will get opportunities to contribute (just like Reggie Bush does in New Orleans with Deuce McAllister).

** QB ALEX SMITH CONTINUES TO IMPROVE **
Now in his third year, Quarterback Alex Smith is looking in control of the offense. While he lost Norv Turner as his offensive mentor, the team has done little to change things for Smith. That’s good news.
